Vancouver Island sailing trips – Sidney fishing

Come and join your skipper Darren Tomlin for an instruction to sailing in the sun! Select an afternoon sailing trip (12 noon departure), sunset dinner cruise (4pm departure) or an overnight cruise. Our Vancouver Island sailing and fishing trips are enjoyed in our own "Desiderata", a 37 foot C&C sail boat located blocks from the guest house at the port of Sidney. This elegant vessel sleeps two couples in private staterooms.

Imagine packing a overnight bag, boarding Desiderata with the sun on your face. Your skipper has provisioned the boat with fresh fruit and smoked salmon. There's a well-equipped galley where your skipper/chef Darren will prepare delicious West coast meals.

Vancouver Island afternoon of sailing

Sailing the beautiful Gulf Islands is easy and fun. Sidney BC is conveniently located near both Salt Spring and Pender Islands. We can visit the island of Sidney Spit and small protected bays where we can anchor, enjoy the sun and watch the local wildlife. Expect to see some of the abundant marine wildlife including seals, herons, otters, porpoises and the occasional pod of killer whales. Appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages are also provided. This instructional cruise will give you an opportunity to hoist sails, work the deck and have an introduction to navigation and boat safety. (Darren is certified by Sail Canada.)

Fishing: we bring crab traps and fishing rods and often catch fresh seafood and enjoy it onboard, or you can cook your catch on the bed and breakfast barbecue.

Rate: $99 pp* (~ 3 hours) Three person minimum.

Vancouver Island sailing dinner cruises

Your skipper Darren is an experienced chef having run a mountain lodge and restaurant for ten years, so come expecting a taste of fine West coast cuisine as you sail through the Gulf Islands. We'll start with an instructional sail with the wind in your face as you trim the sails and be part of the crew. Then we find a secluded bay to anchor for a sunset dinner on board Desiderata.

Rate: $149 pp* (~ 3 hours, with dinner) Three person minimum.
